Support from other organisations

Some of the content that was developed by the GLP Partner organisations will also be available via their own websites. These include:

Development Education Centres, and other global learning experts, will be able to provide global learning support across a wide range of topics and issues. If you’re not already in touch with your local Development Education Centre, you can obtain information via the Consortium of Development Education Centres.

There are a number of organisations working in the field of international development, ranging from running programmes overseas to campaigning for change. Many of these organisations support schools in engaging with global learning.

International non-governmental organisations (INGOs) can provide services such as:

  • speakers
  • web resources
  • professional development opportunities for teachers
  • active citizenship projects for young people
  • whole-school models and frameworks.

These agencies can also support schools in working with their wider community through active projects for young people, connecting with local staff and helping to establish learning-based school links. A document developed for the GLP is available to support schools working with INGOs, along with materials for delivering a twilight session to support teachers to learn about the work of INGOs.


*The Global Learning Programme (GLP) ran from 2013 to 2018 and was funded by the UK government. The GLP in England (GLP-E) was managed by a consortium of partners: Pearson (lead), Geographical Association, UCL Institute of Education, Oxfam UK, Royal Geographical Society (with IBG), SSAT and Think Global.
