Barefoot futures: taking action towards the SDGs

This resource, aimed at 9-11 year olds, encourages students to reflect on various challenges facing their communities and the world, and think from the perspective of others. It introduces them to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and the part everyone has to play in achieving these.
It introduces Barefoot College‘s Barefoot solar initiative as a STEM solution, and helps students to recognise how innovations in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths can help to improve problems around the world. Students put their learning into action by building a solar power car.
The final session encourages students to reflect on their roles as both local and global citizens, moving them from identifying ideas to committing to take action to help achieve the Global Goals.
The resource consists of three 1 hour 30 minute lesson plans and accompanying PowerPoints. It is aimed at 9-11 year olds.
The Barefoot College are a global not for profit social enterprise and a global partner of Hogan Lovells.
