The Unknown Soldier

Using this set of British Red Cross resources young people (ages 14 to 16+) can uncover the human stories, emotions and feeling of those who were involved in World War One.
A short film called ‘The Unknown Soldier’ depicts life in WWI trenches in the moments before soldiers go over the top and into battle.
Session plans have been produced for five different subject areas. Students can explore the film through the subjects of Citizenship, Drama, English, History and Media studies, and reflect on what life might have been like for soldiers during World War One.
There are also supporting, stand-alone activities for form or tutor time. These can be used to supplement subject-specific teaching or adapted for use in an assembly.
