  • Leicester Masaya Link Group

Leicester Masaya Link Group (LMLG) co-ordinates the town twinning link between Leicester and the city of Masaya in Nicaragua. We work towards the relief of poverty by supporting partnerships for sustainable development in the Masaya region and we help to raise awareness of global issues through educational projects across all sectors of the community in Leicester and the surrounding area.

The LMLG uses the link and its first hand knowledge of Nicaragua to provide a rich source of materials to support global citizenship and education for sustainable development. Working in both formal and informal sectors, the LMLG delivers projects in schools, provides in-service training and runs activities for youth groups as well as awareness raising events aimed at increasing local understanding of development issues.

  • Liverpool World Centre (DEC)

Liverpool World Centre (LWC) exists to make world issues relevant to the lives of young people. School is a crucial part of a young person’s life, therefore LWC works with children and teachers to facilitate understanding of global issues and promote social change. LWC uses topics such as Fairtrade, climate change, and citizenship to explore the relationships of young people with each other and those in the wider world. Such topics have been pulled together within the term “Global Learning”, and LWC has developed expertise and resources for schools in this area.
